Online tools for business @ your library

The San Antonio Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the San Antonio Public Library America will present free hands-on training in the use of the social media site Twitter for business publicity and promotion, and online business research tools available from the Library.

The class will be offered twice on Wednesday, September 23, once in the morning, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon; and once in the afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Central Library, 600 Soledad.

The first part of the workshop will focus on the use of Twitter to publicize and promote business. Participants will set up their own Twitter accounts and learn about applications, searching Twitter conversations, Twitter jargon, and how to use Twitter strategically for their businesses or organizations.

Next, the session will cover free online research tools for business available on the Library’s website, http://www.mysapl.org/, with emphasis on BusinessDecision, a service that provides customizable business-oriented reports, data, and maps for the San Antonio metro area. BusinessDecision provides powerful consumer market data that enables business owners to better reach existing customers and to identify new opportunities.

The training is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register for the morning session, go to http://tinyurl.com/saplbizinfo1, and for the afternoon session, go to http://tinyurl.com/saplbizinfo2.

One hour of free parking is available in the Central Library parking garage with a validated ticket. For more information about PRSA San Antonio, go to http://www.prsanantonio.com/. For more information about the San Antonio Public Library, call 207-2500 or visit http://www.mysapl.org/.
