George Washington Carver Branch Library: 80 years of service to the community

In 1929, the George Washington Carver Branch Library first opened its doors in what is now the location of the Carver Community Cultural Center. The location has changed since then, but a library by that name has offered continuous service to the community for 80 years.

On Saturday, April 17, the Carver Branch Library, 3350 E. Commerce, invites everyone to celebrate its 80th anniversary. There will be a family storytime with crafts, computer gaming, a presentation from a gardener's perspective about George Washington Carver's role in history and refreshments. Activities kick off at 11:00 a.m. The first 100 guests will receive a Library book bag. For more information call (210) 225-7801.
