  1. I agree, good news, especially in light of news nationwide of branch closures, hours being cut and other woes of the public library that affect their communities.

  2. Too bad hours are being cut at my library (Maverick). I work and appreciated the library was open until 9:00 PM three days a week.

  3. Personally, I would rather have the Johnston library open on Monday morning than on Sunday, but maybe that will help the working folks get in since the evening hours are being cut back.

  4. I thought this was a good thing, but I agree the cut in hours is not a welcome thing. I understand the budget restraints and staffing issues, and I am ok since I am not working. But the working parent, and family will be hit the hardest by the early hours. Good luck SAPL staff - always doing the best job out there!

  5. I regret the loss of Branch dedicated Maintenance staff in the budget cuts. Thousand Oaks has the world's best in Dora Farias. She is friend, helper and support to patrons, staff and Friends of the Library. In other words, she is irreplaceable. Good luck, Dora.

  6. I'd preferred to have the library open 'till 9:00pm.
    Sunday is perfect !

  7. I think the new hours are awful, no more getting there early, no more story time at 9:30 for the infant/toddlers, no more being able to go there a little later in the evening. I think this is the worst decision.

  8. I am so upset with new hours. My kids and I only have time to get things done in morning including making our trips to the library. Now, we will not be spending our 1 day a week in library anymore. My sons are so sad on library day. :( By noon the sun is hott, time for lunch, time for naps, time for me to study, time to get ready for night school, time for everything!

  10. I am not sure why the change, if is budget related, is understandable, but I think, asking the people who goes to the libraries will help to solve how many people feel about the new hours. Many people uses the library for helping kids with the homework, therefore that schedule is not helpful. Who can go to the library when is at work? Two days a week is not much. Access to PCs is very important component for many people. I can go on and on...

Good work SAPL staff, we thank you for your job!

  12. The new hours at the Cody branch combined with my work schedule will only allow me to use the library on Saturday and Sunday. The change is not a good one for me.
